We are in the rad zone now, but will exit at 1546 UTC. We'll have a radiation tagup at 1845 UTC (2:45 EDT). There is some hope that the radiation is peaking and will decrease from now on. PLAN: CAL-ER (55163) 2011:269:11:40, then CAL-ER (55162) 2011:269:13:31, then obsid 14051, GRB 110915A 2011:269:16:13, ACIS-S NONE MP: the OCT03 load is being worked. SIGNIFICANT SOLAR ACTIVITY: Having already unleashed two X-flares since Sept. 22nd, sunspot 1302 appears ready for more. The active region has a complex ""beta-gamma-delta"" magnetic field that harbors energy for strong M- and X-class eruptions. Flares from AR1302 will become increasingly geoeffective as the sunspot turns toward Earth in the days ahead. The region remains capable of producing major flares. Flares: M4.4 at 02:33, C7.9 at 03:32, major M7.4/1N at 04:50, M3.1/1N at 08:49, C5.7 at 11:29, M3.7 at 15:33, M2.2 at 16:58 UTC. Region 1303 developed further as it rotated to the southwest limb GOES X-ray flux: there was an M class event at ~0400 UTC today. CMEs: A pair of closely-spaced CMEs from 1302 on Sept. 24th are heading not-quite directly toward Earth. A significant glancing blow to our planet's magnetic field appears to be happening now.
