SOT shift report 2007-04-02 L2811 File created at 2007:092:13:38 UTC = 09:38 AM Apr-02-2007 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- OBSID 08001, C-COSMOS2-2 2007:092:04:12, ACIS-I NONE - COSMOS survey which will provide an unprecedented combination of contiguous area, depth and resolution. 36 densely tiled observations will cover the central 0.7 sq.deg. COSMOS field to a uniform 200ksec depth. COSMOS explores the coupled evolution of galaxies, dark matter halos and AGNs (massive black holes) largely free of cosmic variance. COSMOS is a comprehensive survey including: HST, Spitzer, Subaru, VLT, Magellan, VLA, MAMBO, GALEX, & potentially EVLA & ALMA. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is low. (http://www.srl.caltech.edu/ACE/ASC/) Significant solar activity - Yesterday there was a high speed stream from CH263. At midnight there was 1 spotted region on the visible solar disk. The solar flare activity level was very low. No C class events were recorded yesterday. Region 10949 reemerged with a few small spots in the leading positive polarity area. (http://www.dxlc.com/solar/). GOES x-ray flux: very quiet. CMEs reported for past two days - March 30 - April 1: No obvious fully or partially Earth directed CMEs were observed in LASCO imagery. WE don't expect an SSR rollover to occur again, though. Next passes(yyyy:ddd:BOT-EOT, UTC)2007:092:2010-2110 2007:093:0230-0330 2007:093:1115-1215 MP: We are reviewing the APR0907A schedule. S/C: Over the weekend we had two limit violations. First, the output power on the power amplifier for the low gain antenna had a violation, just at the time it was being turned off. This is benign. Second, SSR B had a status timeout coincident with turnoff. The flag is still on, so we may want to turn it on to clear the flag. We are investigating why this has happened for the first time in the mission. The ASVT problem that surfaced last Thursday morning, with difficulty accessing the network, is believed to be caused by a DEC switch between the VAX and the network. Right now neither the primary nor the secondary VAX is reliably on line. We can turn the OBC on and still do verification. We are looking for help on the DEC switch. GOT/IST: Cmd 3 is down. We are working to bring it up, but this has little if any impact. Over the weekend we installed GRETA 2.2.3-1 and three new workstations. DATA: - SOT: We need a new Xwin-32 license to replace the one that expired at the end of March. We have emailed syshelp about this.
