SOT shift report 2007-10-18 L3010 File created at 2007:291:12:45 UTC = 08:45 AM Oct-18-2007 EDT End 11:00:00 AM EDT SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- OBSID 07869, 3C 445 2007:291:00:43, ACIS-S NONE - X-ray emission mechanism and jet kinematics at the hot spots of radio galaxy 3C 445, then CAL-ER (58163) 2007:291:14:31. CURRENT STA. PASS Support-UTC BOT EOT ---Station------ Local Time ----------------- ------------ --- --- ---------------- ---------- (none) MP: We reviewed the OCT2207A load yesterday. There are a few fixes, plus we received two TOOs that we will incorporate into OCT2207B and review that today or tomorrow. S/C: All quiet. The CPE warm start count was still 1 as expected. Significant solar activity: Currently the visible solar disk is spotless. The solar flare activity level was very low. No C class events were recorded yesterday. A recurrent trans equatorial hole (CH295) was in an Earth facing position on October 15-18. CH295 has become less well defined over the last solar rotation and has significantly decreased its areal coverage. A recurrent coronal hole (CH296) will rotate into an Earth facing position on October 21-22. CH296 has become less well defined in the northern part and may cause a less significant disturbance this time. GOES X-ray flux: extremely quiet CMEs reported for past two days: October 15-17: No obvious fully or partly Earth directed CMEs were observed in LASCO imagery. GOT/IST: We did not receive about half of the data from ObsID 7869, about five hours' worth. We presently don't know the cause. JPL are investigating whether the data can be retransmitted from the ground station or JPL. We are also making plans to switch to SSR-B before the onboard data are overwritten if possible, so the data can be played back again if necessary. This will involve getting some special comm time.
