Item 2. Joint Conference on X-ray Diagnostics of Astrophysical Plasmas
=======================================================================

                       Second Announcement

                      November 15-17, 2004

held at the Sheraton Commander Hotel, Cambridge, MA, USA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce a conference, jointly sponsored by the
Institute for Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics (ITAMP), the
Chandra X-ray Center, the Constellation-X mission, and the Astro-E2
Guest Observer Facility, on "X-ray Diagnostics of Astrophysical
Plasmas".

The meeting will concentrate on X-ray diagnostics of plasma
parameters, including theoretical, experimental, and observational
results on emission and absorption line diagnostics. Particular
emphasis will be given to recent progress in dielectronic and
inner-shell lines. Invited speakers come from fields of atomic
theory, experimental atomic physics, and spectroscopy. We hope bring
recent results from these fields to the larger audience of X-ray
astronomers who are using the Chandra and XMM-Newton grating data or
who plan to use the high-resolution data from Astro-E2.

A detailed description of the meeting, including information on
registration and submitting contributed talks and posters, can be
found on the conference website:

             http://itamp.harvard.edu/xdap.html
