Item 2. Chandra Users' Committee Meeting Oct 17, 2006
======================================================

The CUC meets twice yearly and serves to ensure broad-based community
input to CXC functions, providing a mechanism for influencing the
Chandra X-ray Center. The CUC membership, email addresses, and a list of past
recommendations to and reports from the CXC can all be found on the
CUC webpage at

    http://cxc.harvard.edu/cdo/cuc/index.html

The next Chandra Users' Committee Meeting will be held October 17,
2006 at the CfA in Cambridge. If you have concerns about Chandra
policies or direction, please contact the CUC members, whose emails
are shown at the above webpage.

Item 3. Phasing out the Chandra Data Archive Provisional Retrieval
         Interface (PRI)
===================================================================

The Provisional Retrieval Interface (PRI) to the Chandra Data Archive
(CDA) has been in operation for seven years and has been ready for
retirement for quite a while.
The only reason it is still around is that it provides a mechanism for
instrument teams to retrieve data associated with Engineering Requests
(ERs). All other functionality is provided better by Chaser and
WebChaser.
In order to be able to retire the PRI, the Chandra Data Archive
Operations Team (arcops) is planning to put into service a simple
light-weight webpage interface that will allow users to retrieve ER data.
Current plans are to terminate access to the archive through the PRI
as of 1 December 2006.
