Item 1. Science Data Systems Position
=======================================

The Chandra Science Data Systems (SDS) Team has an opening for an IT
Specialist (SAO Job#28-35). As a data specialist with the Chandra SDS
group, the employee may perform any of a variety of computer-related
duties in support of astrophysical research in the areas of the Chandra
data analysis system known as CIAO (CIAO tools, ChIPS, Sherpa) and
Chandra Catalogs, as well as participate in the daily operations of
one of NASA's Great Observatories, the Chandra X-ray Observatory.

Beyond a strong interest in hands-on participation in the operation
of a major space observatory, qualifications include a solid background
in computing, physics, math, and astronomy. Positions of this kind
often have been an excellent learning opportunity for recent holders
of baccalaureate degrees looking for several years' experience before
proceeding to graduate school, but also have been filled by persons
with a variety of other backgrounds and planned career paths. If
interested, please respond to the announcement for Job #28-35 at
http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/hr/postings/28-35.html or contact
Margarita Karovska (mkarovska@cfa.harvard.edu) directly.
