Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for the message, especially while you're out of town. I encourage
other observers trying to use CIAO2 with data processed by ASCDSVER below
R4CU5UPD8 to speak up -- I would feel better if I knew you were not being
asked to do special work just for me.
Perhaps you could clarify a technical point when you get back home. The CALDB
mechanism in CIAO2 is able to select from various epochs of energy-related
calibration information based on information in the data, for example
selecting gain files and RMF files based on temperature. I had assumed that
it similarly selected between various epochs of pixlib geometries (eliminating
the pix_sim_table_flight.par setup required in CIAO1). Was I mistaken? Is
the design actually for CIAO2 to know about only a single pixlib epoch and the
goal is to have all the data processed at the same pixlib epoch? The topic of
pixlib epochs was not mentioned in the description of reprocessing at
http://asc.harvard.edu/udocs/reprocessing.html
Thanks,
Pat
