What I found with my own account was that CIAO1 did share ~/PFILES/ with
FTOOLS, but CIAO2 nicely uses ~/cxcds_param/ and leaves ~/PFILES/ alone. I
have both packages configured in the same shell routinely without problems,
although some of colleagues here have complained about conflicts between the
two tools (mainly duplicate program names instead of par file problems I
believe).
