Yes, check that it is an image file with dmlist.
It should look something like this
> dmlist ../IMAGING/img_full.fits
Option (blocks):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dataset: ../IMAGING/img_full.fits
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Block Name Type Dimensions
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've had problems with images before (especially those that have been
manipulated a lot). You may have to convert the FITS image to an IRAF
format using rfits in the xray.data area.
