NaN & 0.00 values in .reg output by wavdetect

Hello all,

I am curious if anyone knows why wavdetect sometimes outputs "nan" or
0.00000 in the .reg file for the major or minor axis value of an ellipse
assigned to a detected source. For example, the second output below:

ellipse(4000.000000,4441.666667,5.000000,3.726780,180.000000)
ellipse(4265.000000,3822.333333,2.357023,nan,90.000000)
ellipse(4264.917526,3101.938144,41.665736,25.409830,31.492128)

Or another example, again the second output:

ellipse(3922.400000,4382.200000,2.689994,1.662508,148.282526)
ellipse(4009.666667,4206.000000,4.714045,0.000000,0.000000)
ellipse(4098.655172,3165.275862,22.138650,12.858844,52.007946)

My admittedly rudimentary understanding of the ellipses assigned by
wavdetect is that their dimensions, i.e. the length of the major and
minor axes, are determined based on wavdetect's estimated error on the
position of the source. It seems to me that this should never be 0 and the
"nan" assignments are most likely a bug.

Any insights?

Thanks!
Daryl
