use CIAO detection tasks upon ROSAT data

Hello,
  has anyone used ciao detection tasks upon EINSTEIN HRI,IPC and ROSAT HRI,PSPC
observations? the ciao manual says they can do it, but gives no examples. could
anyone please give me some examples starting from the downloaded archive
datasets, say *_bas.fits for ROSAT data?
 and if i want an upper limit for a disappeared source in one specific
observation, how can i do that in CIAO? In PROS, srcinten claims to do this
part, but under our installation it does not work for me.
