Dear ACIS background users,
I've combined two ACIS-stowed background observations done
in Sep 2002 and May 2003 into a 100 ks dataset (which
includes only the detector background, no sky component).
The files can be found in
http://cxc.harvard.edu/contrib/maxim/acisbg/ (there are CIAO
and PSU versions of the CTI correction). See the
accompanying README and COOKBOOK.
Spectra from the Sep 2002 and May 2003 pieces are compared
at http://cxc.harvard.edu/contrib/maxim/stowed/; they are
almost identical.
One of the new data-processing things is the correction of
the gain time dependence. While this correction is on its
way into CIAO, use A. Vikhlinin's corr_tgain tool
(http://cxc.harvard.edu/contrib/alexey/tgain/) on your data.
Enjoy
Maxim Markevitch
