Hello, Chandra Users:
CALDB 3.0.3 (patch) Released - 09 May 2005
======================================================================
As of 12:00 NOON EST this today, the Chandra CalDB version 3.0.3 is available
for download from the following CXC web page:
"Downloading CALDB 3.0.3"
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/index.html
++ Everything will be copied shortly on the European mirror site at:
http://chandra.ledas.ac.uk/caldb/downloads/index.html
CalDB 3.0.3 contains the following:
- A repaired version of the Phase 2 Response file used by
the tool "mkacisrmf," which corrects a bug due to the sorting
of the data in the front-illuminated chip scattering matrix input
data (in Block 4 of the CalDB file). The bug is referenced in
the web page
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao3.2/bugs/mkacisrmf.html#sorterr
The new file repairs only this particular problem; it does not
repair the SEGV that occurs on Chip 1 Node 1, a bug also reported
on that same web page. The new file is named
acisD2000-01-29p2_respN0003.fits, and is located at
$CALDB/data/chandra/acis/cpf/p2_resp/. See the newly updated
CIAO threads page "Creating ACIS RMFs with mkacisrmf"
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/threads/mkacisrmf/ for more details.
- The 3.0.2 CalDB patch installed in processing already on DATE=
2005-03-23T16:01:00. This patch contained some new ACIS -120C
BADPIX files. These files are not recommended for use in CIAO.
Users are generally instructed to employ their observation-
specific *_bpix1.fits files when BADPIX files are called-for.
See the release notes and associated threads for details at
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v3.0.3.txt
(++ Again the mirror site will soon have these updates as well, at
the following URL's:
http://chandra.ledas.ac.uk/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v3.0.3.txt
http://chandra.ledas.ac.uk/ciao3.2/bugs/mkacisrmf.html#sorterr
http://chandra.ledas.ac.uk/ciao/threads/mkacisrmf/
CalDB 3.0.3 itself does not affect Standard Data Processing through level 2
at all, but only CIAO 3.2.1 (mkacisrmf).
Cheers,
- Dale Graessle
