To Chandra Users:
CalDB 3.2.1, is now available for download at
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/index.html
To CXC/HEAD users:
CalDB 3.2.1 is also now available on the HEAD LAN, and is automatically
accessible from CIAO 3.3.
The Chandra X-Ray Center introduced version 3.2.1 of the Chandra Calibration
Database (CALDB) on 15 December 2005.
CALDB 3.2.1 is a patch upgrade to CalDB 3.2.0; in that sense it completes the
scheduled upgrades in CalDB for optimal CIAO performance as they are available
to date. To wit, it includes a new HRMA axial effective area, (see
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/why/caldb3.2.1_hrma.html) an HRC-I RMF, (see
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/why/caldb3.2.1_hrci_rmf.html) an HRC-S axial QE
update, an HETG grating efficiency upgrade, and new ACIS BI chip gains for
GRADED MODE observations. See the CALDB 3.2.1 release notes for a detailed
list of the changes.

CalDB 3.2.1 is being released simultaneously with the CY08 ACIS imaging and
grating proposal planning support files,
(http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/prop_plan/index.html)
along with the new PIMMS Cycle 08 effective area files. It has also been
installed in Standard Data Processing as of 15 December 2005, with the
installation of DS 7.6.5. These new calibrations will also be applied to the
third round of Chandra Archival Reprocessing, most of which will be completed
during the year 2006.
