Hello, Chandra Users,
An upgrade to the Chandra CalDB, version 3.4.3, is now available for
download at
http://asc.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/
and the tables of downloadable files are located at:
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/caldb.html
The CalDB 3.4.3 release notes are posted at
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v3.4.3.html
CalDB 3.4.3 is compatible with and recommended for both CIAO 4.0+ and
CIAO 3.4.
This latest release includes new ACIS T_GAIN corrections (time-dependent
gain
corrections) for the most recent T_GAIN epoch (ending January 31,
2008),
the usual quarterly update, for -120C focal plane temperature
observations.
In addition, CalDB 3.4.3 also includes NEW ACIS BI chip T_GAIN
corrections
for -110C data taken during the first year of Chandra operations. ACIS
currently operates at focal plane temperature (FP_TEMP) 153.2K (-120C)
nominally, but during 1999-09-16 until 2000-01-29 it was operated at
FP_TEMP=163.2K (-110C). These corrections exist for BI chips only.
Note that the CalDB Manager has also updated the Calibration Links web
page for ACIS at
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/calibration/acis.html#T_GAIN
and
http://cxc.harvard.edu/caldb/calibration/acis.html#DET_GAIN
See the CIAO release notes "How CalDB 3.4.3 affects your analysis" at
http://asc.cfa.harvard.edu/ciao4.0/releasenotes/ciao_4.0_release.html#HowCALDB3.4.3AffectsYourAnalysis
The release notes contain important information and thread links, in
particular regarding the use of the new -110C T_GAIN.
The above information will be posted soon on the Chandra mirrored web
site at Leicester, namely

Thank you for your attention,
