Hello, Chandra Users of CIAO 4.2:
We have just released CalDB 4.2.2, which includes the promised
corrections for CalDB 4.2.1, released on 05 April. This new CalDB
version includes all upgrades included in 4.2.1, and also corrects a
couple of Epoch 40 T_GAIN headers, as well as providing a corrected
ACIS-I1 BKGRND blank sky file.
For an automated installation of this upgrade, see the CIAO downloads
web page, at http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/ and follow the
instructions there. If you have already installed CIAO 4.2 and CalDB
4.2.0 or 4.2.1, the script will only upgrade your installation to the
new CalDB version.

for *manual* download and installation instructions. If you have already
installed CIAO 4.2 and CalDB 4.2.0 or 4.2.1, the manual upgrade-only
patch in "TABLE 2" has been provided, for a quicker upgrade
installation. (We'll automate the quick patch files into the
ciao-install script for the next CalDB release. For now, it is
manual-only.) Manual full-download instructions for CalDB 4.2.2 are also
included.
RELEASE NOTES:
The corrections included in CalDB 4.2.2 are as follows:
* ACIS T_GAIN files in $CALDB/data/chandra/acis/t_gain, named
acisD2009-11-01t_gain_biN0002.fits
acisD2009-08-01t_gainN0006.fits
have header corrections only, one of which removes a harmless warning
that occurs in acis_process_events under CalDB 4.2.1, for data taken
since 2009-11-01.
* The errant ACIS BKGRND file acis1iD2005-09-01bkgrnd_ctiN0001.fits has
been replaced by the corrected file
acis1iD2005-09-01bkgrnd_ctiN0001A.fits. The new file is in the ACIS
BKGRND TAR ball acis_bkgrnd_4.2.2.tar.gz. The CalDB 4.2.2 download and
installation instructions explain how to get the new file.
