Hello chandra-users,

A new version of the Contributed Scripts and Modules tarfile has been
released; download the updated package from the Scripts page.

A number of bug fixes were released for the specextract script in the 22
December 2010 update of the CIAO contributed science tarfile. The new
tarfile may be download via ciao-install
(http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/) or from the CIAO Contributed
Scripts Page (http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/scripts/).

The changes to specextract are:
     * corrected a syntax error when running the sky2tdet tool (weighted
ARF mode): the energy filter was not properly applied.

     * bug fix for "grouptype=BIN" binning specification. The script
would fail when this option was used.

     * the "combine=yes" option is now fully supported, with the related
updates to the ciao_contrib.runtool module.

     * update to the parameter file listing: asp and mskfile parameters
are required, not optional.

The ciao_contrib.runtool module has also been updated to improve support
for running the combine_spectra and specextract tools.

As a reminder: there were several enhancements to the specextract script
release in CIAO 4.3, which resulted in a few changes in syntax. Refer
to the "Analysis Scripts" section of the CIAO release notes for a
description of the changes:
