Hello chandra-users,

The CXC released three updates to the CIAO software and CALDB today (26
April 2011):

1) Update to the CIAO 4.3 tools package

Version 2 of the tools package for CIAO 4.3 fixes the corrupted CHANNEL
data bug in the mkrmf tool; none of the other CIAO tools changed in this
release.

2) CALDB 4.4.3 release

and
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/releasenotes/ciao_4.3_release.html#HowCALDB4.4.3AffectsYourAnalysis

    - Time-dependent ACIS Gain (TGAIN) Files for -120 C Data

    - LETG Grating Efficiency (version N0007)
The new LETG grating efficiency file (GREFF) will be used by
default when creating ACIS & HRC-S LETG response files (ARFs).

    - Correction to Epoch 42 TGAIN Files
There was an error in the time-dependent gain correction (TGAIN)
for Epoch 42 which affected observations taken from 01 May 2010 - 31
July 2010. If you reprocessed one of these datasets in CIAO 4.3 with
CALDB 4.4.1 or 4.4.2, the TGAIN correction was incorrect. Reprocess
with CALDB 4.4.3 to apply the correct TGAIN.

3) Contributed tarfile, 25 April version

A new version of the Contributed Scripts and Modules tarfile has been
released. Changes in this release:

    - NEW script: remove_extra_time_keywords
This script removes any time keyword with an exposure time of 0
from the header of infile. It is only needed if you are manually
running sky2tdet for regions that extend beyond the edge of a chip (see
the sky2tdet bug page, http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/bugs/sky2tdet.html).

    - specextract
The remove_extra_time_keywords script is run for the weighted
response case ("weight=yes").

    - NEW script: get_fov_limits
The script calculates the sky limits (i.e. bounding box) for all
the chips in a Chandra FOV file. It can be used to easily determine the
binning needed to create an image from an events file or the xygrid
parameter of mkexpmap.

    - ciao_contrib.runtool
The module has been updated to support get_fov_limits.

Use the ciao-install script to update your CIAO installation with these
changes:
