Hello, Chandra Users of CIAO 4.3:
Effective (UTC) 2011-06-30T19:00:00 (but you can get it now!) the latest
release of the Chandra Calibration Database (CalDB) is available for
download and installation. CalDB 4.4.5 includes two important items for
CIAO 4.3 users:
1) ACIS T_GAIN Epoch 45 updates (affects all ACIS OBS_IDs with
DATE-OBS after 2010-11-01T00:00:00). This is the usual
periodic ACIS T_GAIN upgrade, and the degree of PHA
adjustment is nominal, all within the ordinary 2%.
2) HRC-S Time-displaced QE Uniformity files that correct
LETG/HRC-S Grating ARFs and exposure maps for the very
slow decline in the HRC-S quantum efficiency, which is
about 0.5% per year.
Additionally, there are some new Aspect files not used by CIAO, but that
are used in Standard Data Processing to perform the periscope alignment
correction in the Aspect L1 pipeline. Those files come along for the
ride in CalDB 4.4.5.

Note: CalDB 4.4.5 includes some upgrades that were included in version
4.4.4, which was installed in Standard Data Processing on 28 June 2011.
While v4.4.4 was not released to the public, all of its additions are
now included in CalDB v4.4.5.
The easiest way to upgrade your CalDB for CIAO 4.3 is to use the
"ciao-install" script, by following the instructions on the CIAO
downloads page:
