Hello chandra-users,

The CIAO team has released an update to the CIAO contributed science
tarfile. The new tarfile may be download via ciao-install
(http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/) or from the CIAO Contributed
Scripts Page (http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/scripts/).

o) ciao_contrib.runtool module (affects fluximage):

     http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/ahelp/ciao_runtool.html
     http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/ahelp/fluximage.html

The fluximage script was not using the observation-specific bad pixel
file when generating the instrument maps for the observation due to an
error in the new_pfiles_environment context manager from the runtool module.

Once you have updated to the latest version of the contributed script
package (October 18th 2011 or later), you can easily re-run fluximage by
taking advantage of the history records that the tool adds to the output
files. For instance, if images/2.3_bin2.expmap is the exposure map, then:

unix% dmhistory images/2.3_bin2.expmap fluximage
fluximage infile="repro/evt2.fits" outroot="images/" binsize="2"
bands="broad,csc" asolfile="" badpixfile="" maskfile="" pbkfile=""
dtffile="" normalize="no" expmapthresh="1.5" parallel="yes"
tmpdir="/tmp" cleanup="yes" clobber="no" verbose="1"

unix% dmhistory images/2.3_bin2.expmap fluximage action=pset
unix% fluximage clobber=yes mode=h

will re-run fluximage with the settings used to create
images/2.3_bin2.expmap, over-writing the old versions of the files. See
ahelp dmhistory for more information on the dmhistory tool.
