Hello, Chandra Users,
An upgrade to the Chandra CalDB for use in CIAO 4.4 and 4.3 has been
released today to the public. The upgrade has only one new item: The
ACIS time-dependent gain correction (T_GAIN) for the recently-closed
Epoch 48, November 1, 2011 through January 31, 2012.
Only users with observations taken since 01 August 2011 are affected at
all. Your data files would have DATE-OBS = 2011-08-01T00:00:00 (UTC) or
later, or you do not really need this upgrade.
Chandra Cycle 14 proposal planning threads are also unaffected by this
upgrade.
The ciao-install script has been updated to detect your current CalDB
version and upgrade it to CalDB 4.4.8. See the CIAO 4.4 installation web
page at

if you are already using CIAO 4.4 (released December 15, 2011) or if you
are ready to upgrade to CIAO 4.4.
If you are currently using CIAO 4.3 (released December 15, 2010) and
want to stay with that, you may still get the new CalDB upgrade from
http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao4.3/download/
