Hello chandra-users,
The CIAO team has released an update to the CIAO contributed science
tarfile. The new tarfile may be download via ciao-install
(http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/) or from the CIAO Contributed
Scripts Page (http://cxc.harvard.edu/ciao/download/scripts/).
The changes in this release are:
o) merge_obs, reproject_obs, and flux_obs
* improved handling of HRC data:
- a warning when trying to combine HRC data with different PI
conventions (this indicates that at least one of your
observations needs reprocessing);
- better support for some of the subspace filters used in Repro IV.
* event files with an OBS_ID of "Merged" are now automatically
skipped rather than causing the scripts to exit with an error.
* interleaved-mode data can now be combined without explicitly
listing both the primary and secondary (e1 and e2) versions.
* the handling of missing ancillary files - such as the PBK file -
has been improved.
o) fluximage, merge_obs, reproject_obs and flux_obs
* the asol argument is checked to make sure that an aspect
histogram is not being used by mistake.
o) ciao_contrib.runtool
* updated to include the new and changed scripts in this release.
o) add_ds9_contours and read_ds9_contours
* bug fix so that they work in CIAO 4.5.
o) chandra_repro
* now supports interleaved-mode (alternating exposure mode)
observations
without the user needing to split them into separate directories.
* a new "recreate_tg_mask" parameter has been added. Now by default,
the existing region appended to the original evt2 file is used
rather
than recreating it using tgdetect and tg_create_mask.
* when reprocessing an observation that uses the gratings, the
ARF and RMF files for each order and arm are now created.
They are put into a 'tg' sub-directory of the output directory.
o) mktgresp
* New script that will take a TYPE II PHA file as output by
tgextract or tgextract2 and will create the ARF and RMF files
for each order and grating arm.
o) reg2tgmask and tgmask2reg
* New scripts that assist tgextract2 users who need to create custom
region extraction masks.
o) ximage_lut.par and imagej_lut.par
* Due to a naming conflict, these parameter files that provide
easy access to the suite of auxiliary color lookup-tables have been
changed.
