Starting the Chandra ACA EGSE at the OCC (Linux)

1. Log in to unagi as user aca. The password can be obtained from Tom Aldcroft (617-721-4364) or Jean Connelly (617-495-7366).
2. The ACA EGSE can be run on either coot or unagi.
3. To ensure that there are no stray telemetry processes running, press the red Stop Tlm Rec icon on the task bar and wait for its completion. If there is a possibility that receipt software is running on the other host (coot or unagi), press the Stop Tlm Rec button on that host or execute the script /proj/telmon/ska/share/aca_egse/kill_recv_tlm
4. Start the telemetry receipt process by pressing the green Start Tlm Rec button on the taskbar. You should see that the process is waiting for a connection on socket 5019.
5. Start the ACA telemetry monitor by clicking the launching spaceship icon.
6. Call up Cambridge Ops on IST (or telephone: 6-7069 or 617-592-6010) and ask them to recycle the connection to coot or unagi. You should see the telemetry receipt program confirm that a connection has been made, and if there is COMM you should see the telemetry monitor bar turn green.
7. [Optional] Go to the PCAD Pages workspace, start an X-terminal, enter egse to initialize the environment, and type disp <PAGE>

Starting the Backup Chandra ACA EGSE

1. Contact Lisa Paton or other HEAD systems personnel and ask that they switch the ACA home directory server to numa with this procedure.
2. Log in to chewie as user aca.
3. Start the telemetry receipt process:

   ssh aca@chewie
   egse    # Set environment for running EGSE (not necessary on coot)
   kill_recv_tlm   # Typically not required but a good idea
   start_recv_tlm >>& recv_tlm.log &
   tail -f recv_tlm.log
   

4. Confirm proper startup

   START_RECV_TLM% Initializing for SKA, defaulting to world write permission
   START_RECV_TLM% cd /proj/telmon/tlm/raw
   Starting recv_tlm and memshar_put at  2009 Jan 21 (021) 18:51:54 GMT
   % /proj/telmon/aca/bin/recv_tlm.pl:  2009 Jan 21 (021) 18:51:56 GMT: Opening socket to listen on port 5019, timeout 3600
   % /proj/telmon/aca/bin/recv_tlm.pl:  2009 Jan 21 (021) 18:51:57 GMT: Waiting to accept socket connection on port 5019
   % /proj/telmon/aca/bin/recv_tlm.pl:  2009 Jan 21 (021) 18:51:57 GMT: New socket accepted
   

5. Run ACA image display tool splat.pl from another window

   ssh aca@chewie
   egse   
   memshar_get.pl | splat.pl
   

Additional info

• Other engineering telemetry can be displayed similarly by typing disp <DISP_PAGE> where the list of <DISP_PAGE>'s can be found in /home/aca/disp_pages.
• The ACA EGSE software is found in /proj/telmon/aca, with the scripts/executables within the bin directory.
