Radiation

On Sun, 7 Nov 2004 10:10:02 EST a radiation violation of P3 (130Kev) was observed by ACE.
Observed = 3.7863e+08
(limit = fluence of 3.6e8 particles/cm2-ster-MeV within 2 hours)

SCS107 commanded manually at 312:19:54.

The load stoppage left Chandra at a warm EPHIN attitude. We saw a peak temperature of 104 F and voltage drop to 11 V.

On Sun, 7 Nov 2004 20:37:01 EST a radiation violation of the USAF Kp index occured.
Value = 7.33 (dynamic limit: 6.3)

On Tue, 9 Nov 2004 04:25:01 another radiation violation of P3 (130Kev) was observed by ACE.
Observed = 3.8035e+08
(limit = fluence of 3.6e8 particles/cm2-ster-MeV within 2 hours)

Loads were restarted at 2004:315:16:15 UT, but SCS107 tripped autonomously at 2004:315:16:41 due to high radiation.
SCS107 ran during a scheduled manuever sequence when ACA-restart was disabled. Due to the normal motions of SIM translation, guide stars were lost and Normal Sun Mode was entered. Nominal recovery from NSM occurred at 2004:316:02:50 UT.

The radiation environment is subsiding and observations are expected to resume at 2004:318:03:45 UT.

Estimated lost science time: 307 ks (11/07-11/13)

Detrended CTI

CTI page was updated. The top panel shows an example of detrended CTI measurements from the front illuminated CCD3 Node 0. The top plot is all data points without any temperature dependency correction. The middle plot is data with the focal temperature equal or colder than -119.7 C, and the integration time longer than 7,000 sec. The bottom plot is all data with the temperature correction.

The values quoted below are temperature factor corrected ones.
Average of ACIS-I CCDs (MnKa) slope 5.556e-9 CTI/day
Detrended slope 6.510e-9 CTI/day

ACIS Warm Pixels

We display all bad pixels showed up in past, and, if any, previously unknown bad pixels appeared in the last 14 days. We also list hot pixels (defined as 1000 above the average of bias background). Warm columns 509-514 are probably due to a computational artificial effect due to boundaries.

ACIS Focal Plane Temperature

For this period, 4 peaks are observed.

Recent Observations

"Prob" means that there was probably bad time data included in the manual runs. This will probably be corrected in future AP processing.
