Synopsis

Pack image data into an IMAGECrate

pack_image( [id])

Description

The pack_image command packs data from a Sherpa data object into an IMAGECrate. The crates write_file command ("ahelp write_file") can then be used to create an output file containing the data. The commands may be combined into one step, but then the crate is hidden and cannot be used for other analysis in the session.

• id - the id of the dataset to pack; if not given, uses the default dataset id (id=1 by default, see "ahelp get_default_id")

Example 1

sherpa> imgcr=pack_image()

Pack the default image into an IMAGECrate named "imgcr".

Example 2

sherpa> write_file(pack_image("img"), "new_img.fits")

The pack_image command is combined with write_file to get the image data from the "img" object and create an output file.
