AHELP for CIAO 4.5 Sherpa v1

xsbapec

Context: models

Synopsis

APEC thermal plasma model with velocity broadening as a free parameter. XSpec model.

Description

A version of the xsapec model. Thermal line broadening is automatically included.

The current version of the AtomDB atomic database accessed by XSpec Apec models is 2.0.1, and may be changed by appropriately setting the APECROOT variable used by the XSpec model, using the Sherpa set_xsxset() command (e.g., 'set_xsxset("APECROOT", "1.2.0")'; see 'ahelp set_xsxset' for details).

This is an additive model component.

xsbapec Parameters

Number Name Description
1 kt plasma temperature in keV
2 abundanc metal abundances (He fixed at cosmic). The elements included are C, N, O, Ne, Mg, Al, Si, S, Ar, Ca, Fe, Ni. Abundances are set by the set_xsabund command.
3 redshift redshift, z
4 velocity velocity broadening [km/s]
5 norm 10^-14 / (4 pi (D_A*(1+z))^2) Int n_e n_H dV, where D_A is the angular size distance to the source (cm), n_e is the electron density (cm^-3), and n_H is the hydrogen density (cm^-3)

XSpec version

This information is taken from the XSpec User's Guide. Version 12.7.1 of the XSpec models is supplied with CIAO 4.4.1.
