SIGNIFICANT SOLAR ACTIVITY: Several sunspots, none very active. A coronal mass ejection (CME) propelled toward Earth by a solar eruption on August 7th has yet to arrive. This means its protons are low energy. It still bears watching. GOES X-ray flux: There was a moderate duration B class outburst yesterday. Flux is still elevated to low B level since the long duration M flare on 07 Aug. No obviously Earth directed CMEs were seen in LASCO or STEREO images in the past two days. However, unambiguous detections of shock fronts are rare and only two have previously been found, those in the Bullet cluster and Abell 520. Abell 2146 has two Mach 2 merger shock fronts.
