SIGNIFICANT SOLAR ACTIVITY: for the past two days active region 1271 has been in a constant state of change, altering its shape on an hourly basis. It developed quickly in the northern part and magnetic delta structures could be forming at the northern and southern edges of the largest penumbra. An M class flare is possible. GOES X-ray flux: a minor flare yesterday; steady today in the moderate mid-B range. GOT/IST: we are testing the new, faster hardware for snowman, the remote login GRETA server.
