To:sot_shift from: Dan Schwartz date: 29 Jun 10, 10:00 EDT Subject: SOT shift report 2010-06-29 L3995 -------- See http://asc.harvard.edu/acis/SOT_reports/sot-shift.html, or /proj/web-cxc/htdocs/acis/SOT_reports/Jun_29_2010_L3995.txt. Shift L3995. Start at 180:12:00 GMT = 08:00am 29 Jun EDT End 10:00am 29 Jun SOT Lead DAS (Times will be given in GMT on day 180.) PLAN ---- Continue running load JUN2810A. Finish obsid 11045, an ACIS-S/HETG observation of the low-mass X-ray binary 4U 1702-429 to determine interstellar extinction, and subsequently the temperature of the neutron star and its distance. Then do obsid 11342, an ACIS-S observation of the field spheriod PGC064718, as part of a survey to assess the influence of environment on activity in low luminosity black holes. Then do obsid 11500, an ACIS-S observation of PKS 0625-35 as part of a survey of radio galaxies in the 2 Jy sample to study the black-hole activity via the nuclear X-ray spectrum. Then do obsid's 11264 and 11263 of UGC 02328 and IC 278 as part of a survey to find X-ray emitting isolated elliptical galaxies for which deep observations may reveal their dark matter distributions. NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS --------------------- From the 9am status meeting: Three supports over the past day, Madrid still working problems, but we are on other stations. One stored command sequence uplinked, on-board loads good until 184:11:00. Two fast ToO requests in yesterday. The NRA ToO was approved, and will be done on day 183 (July 2), necessitating an interrupt of the JUN2810A loads. This will force a rerun of JUL0510 for continuity. The JUL0510A loads were reviewed yesterday and could have been approved for flight, but were held in anticipation of the DDT request. That DDT request is still under review. Products for the interrupt load anticipated out today for load review later today or tonight. FOT is conducting a training Simulation all day, starting 10am EDT. Will simulate uplink of recompiled flight software and recovering from CPE to OBC-B attitude control. ACE solar protons about 3 times background level -- maybe something to do with a large coronal hole on the north pole, but in any event two orders of magnitude below levels of concern. CXC DS will be installing DS 8.3 today and tomorrow.
