SOT shift report 2011-03-21 L4260 File created at 2011:080:12:35 UTC = 08:35AM Mar-21-2011 EDT End 11:00:00AM EDT; SOT Lead: Ed Kellogg PLAN: OBSID 12555, G292.0+1.8 2011:080:00:05, ACIS-S HETG - Oxygen-Rich Supernova Remnant G292.0+1.8, to measure Doppler shifts in the ejecta knots projected near the SNR center and locate the reverse shock. MP: We are waiting for some issues in the MAR28 load to settle out. We anticipate a midweek release and review. S/C: all quiet. We did the ACA dark current calibration yesterday; we will be analyzing the results. SIGNIFICANT SOLAR ACTIVITY: At midnight UTC the visible solar disk had 4 spotted regions, mostly quiet, but old region 11165 is currently at the southeast limb causing an increase in the background x-ray flux. C and maybe M flares are possible, and in fact, the GOES X-ray flux shows two very short duration low C class events today at ~1000 and ~1200 UTC. This 11165 region will be rotating toward an earth-facing direction in the next several days.
