S/C: all quiet. The FOT will be conducting a training sim most of the day today in the control room. SIGNIFICANT SOLAR ACTIVITY: Region 11176 rotated fully into view. M flares are possible. Note that the STEREO-A flux is very high, 1500, compared with usual values of ~5-10. STEREO-A is located off the western limb of the Sun, whereas 11176 is coming around the eastern limb. STEREO-B is off the eastern limb and has rates 10x lower than STEREO-A. Conclusion: there is more than one hot spot on the Sun today, but none of them are bothering Chandra at the moment. GOES X-ray flux: Flares: C1.9 at 03:25, C3.9 at 03:37, C1.6 at 22:12 UTC. The 11176 region was the soutce of a very short duration M1.4 flare at 02:17 today.
