Obsids 62735, 62734, 62733 were used for ACIS checkouts. 62732 was not used. Obsid stayed at 62733 through the beginning of ACIS long form functional tests, including 61022_UPLIND_BOOT, 61023_SWBOOTMODE, and part of 61019_POWER_COMBO. At that point, the team realized that obsids needed to be uplinked, and planned to begin uplinking them. Dan Michaels from BBRC arrived at about 2015. Also, Fred Smith from BBRC called and talked to Tom Aldcroft. Discussions explained why the loss of track was occurring in the one example Tom sent them (see flt note forthcoming from Tom). ONe new fact overheard by the author is that there is no limit in how fast the ACA/PEA will move to try to follow an apparent motion of the target. The defective pixel flag is still a mystery. Implementing code in the PEA to prevent loss of track from this mechanism would be a substantial effort. HRC tried again. They went up to 1400 V/plate, and saw ~200 counts/sec as before. They moved the door to internal calib position and saw no change in rate, eliminating the possiblity that the background is from stray light. HRC saw the first Chandra science event! At 2125 they noticed an increase in the antico detector from 4900-5500 counts/sec. After checking the space weather web page, they found that at 2118 the GOES satellite detected a soft x-ray event, seen in both the 1.8 A & .5-4 A bands. It was classified as a >M5 x-ray event, with an increase in soft x-ray flux of 3 orders of magnitude. ACIS continues in the event histogram mode.
