Shift H23. Start at 226:02:00 GMT = 10:00pm 13 Aug EDT End 06:00am 14 Aug SOT Lead DAS Spac/Aspect RAC,TA FOT/Sci liason EM HRC SSM,JHC,GM,MJ,MVZ ACIS PPP,RB,GG,AG, et al. (Times will be given in GMT on day 226. In general times are rough, not precise.) PLAN Repeat nudge mode and NPM checkouts. Try to turn on HRC HV. (If no joy, go back to Format 2 for ACIS data.) ACIS remains in data acquisition via next in line through HRC activities. Check the scale factor/alignment matrix correction EVENTS OBSID 62694 is running 02:16 1st nudge finished End ACIS science run 02:18 Change to OBSID 62693 02:31 Start ACIS science run 03:45 CAP 264 to test bright star logic 03:52 lose acquisition stars. 03:55 End of Bright star logic test. 04:07 Change to OBSID 62937 (for HRC-I HV ramp up) 04:09 Change to format 1. 05:00 Start maneuver for gyro scale factor/alignment checkout. Lose stars. 05:33 Maneuvering. 05:38 HRC-I high voltage on full. Count ~250per sec. Turn on Anti-co & rate drops to about 50 per sec. Turn on UL discriminator, rates drop to about 35. 05:44 Finish maneuver, go into normal point mode. Correctly acquire 5 stars, 3 fids!! One shot attitude update is 13 arcsec pitch, 38 arcsec yaw. Dither works. 05:55 Go to HRC-S. Change to OBSID 62738 06:15 LGA swap A to B 06:18 Start HRC-S HV ramp-up. 06:33 End maneuver. Only acquire 3 of 5 stars. Reacquire the 3 fids. One shot update was ~30 arcsec. 07:04 Start next maneuver. slew to PKS 0637-752. 07:26 HRC-S up to full high voltage. 07:34 finish HRC-S operations. Turn off high voltage. 07:45 return to format 2 07:50 clear ACIS event buffer 07:50 swap LGA. 08:08 End maneuver. Acquire 5 guide stars, and 5 fid lights. RA = 98.94, dec= -75.27 roll=136.98. One shot update 38 arcsec pitch, 28 arcsec yaw. 08:10 end ACIS science run. 08:10 start new ACIS science run, with SAME HRC OBSID, 62938 (by mistake). 09:22 Complete SSR playback. Zero errors. Pointer reset. 09:30 ACIS stop science. NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS Run CAP 264 to test bright star logic. Lose all five stars. Reacquire 4 acquisition stars. There is only one try to get the acquisition stars, so the fact that one is not acquired is not so unexpected. Force loss of all stars. Find 5 bright stars and 3 fid lights, Kalman stars = 5 so fids are ignored in onboard update -- all as expected! Vacuum monitor reading 4.6 10^-6 torr. Gyro scale factor/misalignment calibration must have been quite accurate, because of the smallish one shot attitude updates at 05:44, 06:33, IRU-B was turned off at about 226:19. IRU-A appears sufficiently accurate and well functioning that there is no thought of trying to get additional IRU rates. Note that there will be some perturbation to the HRMA thermal environment, which is stabilizing anyway since the opening of the SSD. HRC was able to achieve full high voltage on both detectors!! :-) Data needs much analysis, especially the reduction of rates due to the anti-co. Will look at PHA distributions, and discriminator settings. HRC will remain off for at least a day. We forgot to reset the OBSID before starting the ACIS science run at 08:10 for PKS 0637-752. We will STAY with 62938, because bias is already being transmitted. During the ACA field distortion coefficient measurement in the daily load, OBSID 62560, the daily load did not configure ACIS to take data on M7. The SOT LEAD should make sure that ACIS submits a CAP to do a start Science run, and then another for an end Science run. The previously loaded parameter block, which does NOT do a bias measurement, will be suitable for this run. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
