EVENTS PLAN DONE OBSID -------------- ---- ---- ----- Start shift (3:30pm EDT 18 Aug 1999) 1800 1930 End shift (2pm EDT 12 Aug) day 228 1800 NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS --------------------- The FOT continued to plan and carry out safe mode recovery. As of 231:0129, we have swapped from CTU-B to A and RCTU-B to A, IOE-B to A. We have turned on the A-side PCAD equipment - IRU-A, SPE-A, FSS-A, VDE-A and ADE-A. We are about to go from CPE to OBC-A control. Plan: After recovery from safe mode, we will do HRC-I internal calibration and we'll turn on ACIS to get it operating a few thousand sec before it's needed for Cas A. There is already a CAP for moving the SIM back into position. That will be executed after we recover from safe mode. We will go to RA = 12.5 deg, Dec = +73.0 deg, Roll = 136.4 deg, as chosen by Tom Aldcroft. This is ~0.8 deg from RA = 11.679, Dec = +72.217 (note update of this number from previous shift report), which is on the plane perpendicular to the sun line and on the great circle between the Sun and Cas A. The slight difference is to assure that we get a good selection of guide stars. Then we will start the new SCS load, doing a small maneuver to Cas A for that observation. FOT and CXC mission planning are informed of the desired pointing locations.
