Daily load progressing nominally. In working the plan for load P8, CXC-MP believes that there is not enough time between the conclusion of the HETG focus plates and observations of Cyg X-2 that need the best-focus position. Only about 20ks is in the timeline for obtaining the dump, processing, and analyzing the data. CXC and FOT MP are looking for activities to fill this time. Possibilities are: 1) extend the time for the Crab Pulsar TE/CC or Cyg X-2 CC observations 2) retract grating and do additional ACIS calibration targets 3) do ACIS diagnostic tests 4) collect HRC calibration data 5) ?????? Perhaps the time interval of concern could also be arranged to occur around a radiation zone which would allow an additional ~10 hours (maybe not enough additional time). M. Weisskopf tells me that he believes that D. Dewey said the Capella observations could go ahead without the analysis of the focus plates result (our knowledge of the focus position is good enough). The P8 load activities need to leave time for HETG launch lock release and HETG insertion to be performed during real-time contacts and using format 4. Ken Gage has recommended that the requirements be conveyed to the CXC-MP group so that the observations, that may be concurrent, allocate sufficient time. The current load (P5P6) is short-changing the ACIS observations slightly; as an example: the OR for OBSID 1071 requests 2000 s but the time between the "start science" command XTZ0000005,TIME=1999:234:13:53:33.531 and the "stop science" command AA00000000,TIME=1999:234:14:25:05.531 is only 1892 s.
