Interim Shift A report 7/22/99 Yahoooo !!!!!!!! We have had a spectacular first 4 hours of the mission. The highlights have been that we started ACIS commanding within 30 minutes of the payload bay doors opening which is superb efficieny. The good news is that the ACIS initial internal pressure was -2.4/-2.1 Torr on side A/B. This is significantly lower than the pre-flight prediction of 6-9 Torr. We can only surmise that the preflight measurements were inaccurate for reasons unknown. We opened the small valve within minutes of starting the procedure and observed a nominal pressure decay. The details are listed below. The ACIS cold radiator has been cycling between 0 and 10 C as we orbit, so the focal plane has probably been above 0 C for most of the time. We are pleased that all ACIS commands were executed nominally and all telemetry looks nominal. SO, ACIS IS FINE, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NEGLIGIBLE AMOUNT OF WATER CONDENSATION ON THE FOCAL PLANE !!!!!!! HRC - Temperatures are nominal. !!!!!!!!!!
