Hubble deep field (OBSID 967) should have finished, and we will next do five off-axis effective area measurements of G21.5-0.9, OBSIDs 1441,1442, 1443, 1433, 1434. We note that we have never had a normal VCDU roll-over during the mission, nor in an end-to-end system test. Be Alert! Our attention was called to Dan Shropshire's email of last Thursday, Nov 11, which requests that the attached form be used for all DSN requests deviating from the current schedule. This file is DSN_Additional_Scheduling_Request_Form.doc in /pool14/chandra. Comm has been obtained for five hours on 321:06:45 to 11:45 GMT (1:45am to 6:45am on Wed, Nov 17) in order for ACIS to test the "slow transfer" operation. This just covers the two CTI measurements after emerging from the radiation belts. Subsequent to the P27 load, we will be running on the long term schedule (email from P. Slane on 10 Nov). FOT and SOT mps need to agree on a naming convention: DSN uses week number, but OFLS uses day number. The convention MUST accomodate revisions prior to upload, and "break" and revision of the schedule after it has started running. D. Shropshire will discuss tomorrow at the weekly SOT/mps group meeting. We are prepared for the Leonid encounter! TRW/west had suggested a CPE software patch to stop the yaw scan. This was in case we go into safe mode, where we do a yaw scan to balance momentum, but in case we are in danger of yawing so that we point into the Leonid radiant. However, they have not (yet) provided such a patch. Current response might be a yaw maneuver if necessary, however that is very problematical if we are in safe mode. Rob C noticed that the EPHIN P4 rate was very high, 4104, near apogee. Geometry factor was "SMALL" also indicating high rate. However, the leakage currents were normal, indicating normal cosmic ray background rates. Rob's investigation revealed: "RADMON is not enabled right now. The tlr did not have an OORMPEN at the end of the rad belt. So we are flying somewhat unsafe right now. We should fix this at the next contact. - Rob" Eric Martin wrote CAP 508 to fix this -- FOT is attempting to schedule an extra contact to execute this. CAP was run, and subsequently the snapshot properly showed the LARGE geometric factor, and P4 count of zero. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
