To:sot_shift from: Dan Schwartz date: 18 Nov 99 , 12:00noon EST Subject: SOT shift report, Shift L118 -------- See http://asc.harvard.edu/acis/SOT_reports/sot-shift.html, or /proj/ascwww/AXAF/extra/science/htdocs/acis/SOT_reports/Nov_18_1999_L118.txt. Shift L118. Start at 322:13:00 GMT = 08:00am 18 Nov EST End 12:00 noon 18 Nov SOT Lead DAS (Times will be given in GMT on day 322. In general times are rough, not precise.) PLAN Continue running under p26b. OBSID 1480 using ACIS-S on NGC7293 should have finished. Expect to be doing 928 using ACIS-S on MS 2137.3-2353 for 13 hours. EVENTS Status at LOS 3322:07:59, was as follows: PCAD MODE = NPNT CONTROL LAW FLAG = NPNT Stars: = 4 FIDS = 3 RA = 337.387 deg (NGC 7293) DEC = -20.827 deg ROLL = 296.332 deg Format = 2 OBSID = 1480 SIM FA = -467 SIM TSC = 75624 (ACIS-S) HETG = OUT (80.6 deg) LETG = OUT (79.1 deg) HRC both HV are OFF EPHIN: A-Leak = 0.3320 mu-a B-Leak = 0.0520 mu-a 14:00 AOS Status at 322:14:36, was as follows: PCAD MODE = NPNT CONTROL LAW FLAG = NPNT Stars: = 5 FIDS = 3 RA = 325.038337.387 deg (MS 2137.3-2353) DEC = -23.661-20.827 deg ROLL = 288.360296.332 deg Format = 2 OBSID = 928 SIM FA = -467 SIM TSC = 75624 (ACIS-S) HETG = OUT (80.6 deg) LETG = OUT (79.1 deg) HRC both HV are OFF EPHIN: A-Leak = 0.3160 mu-a B-Leak = 0.0480 mu-a ALTITIUDE = 141471 km, Descending 16:00 LOS NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS ACE flux of 130--214 keV protons has gradually dropped from ~300 to 150 over the past 24 hours. Quiescent level is ~20 per (cm^2 s MeV ster). From the Solar Terrestrial Activity Report webpage: "Region 8765 developed further and is a very complex region capable of producing a major proton flare at any time over the next few days. Region 8766 developed further as well and has the potential to produce a major proton flare." Fairly high probability of impact from coronal mass ejection late Nov 19/early Nov 20. Notes from 9am status meeting; 4 passes yesterday; 4 SSR dumps all good. One more portion of current load was unlinked -- 2 more to go to finish p26b. P27 products now out, load review planned for 3pm. P28 -- trying to schedule two ways for comparison: using OFLS scheduler and using all linked observations. Installation of ONLS 3.6 and OFLS 8.0 is now underway, for testing on the 3rd string. This will bring 3rd string down all day. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
