Shift report M127 November 27 1999, GMT 332:02:00, EDT November 27, 1999 21:00 The ACIS realtime intervention team was at work again tonight. We executed CAPs 502 and 503. The point was to read out the FEP0 memory in the hopes that we had caught the long-sought bias-parity error diagnostic information and then to remove the bias-parity error engineering patch and reload the standard and optional patches which are the current default for ACIS. We had never patched the ACIS flight SW while in FMT 1 before and tonight was an adventure. As a rule, we should avoid it because some TLM verifiers will be dropped in FMT 1 and this makes patching the SW a little dicey. HRC was in the middle of an observation, so we decided to stay in FMT 1. GMT Event 332:00:30 AOS on DSS 27 (Goldstone) 332:00:35 FP = -109.2 C, ACIS towards the end of an CTI Measurement (OBSID=62296), TLM stream is clogged 332:00:37 Observe stopScience command from daily load 332:00:39 OC/CC initiate a badly-needed SSR dump 332:00:40 TLM buffers empty 332:00:53 Execute CAP 502 to read FEP memory, only read the FEP memory, do NOT clear FEP memory 332:00:54 Large TLM dropout, OC/CC stop playback, DSN terminates ranging activity 332:01:00 DSN attempts to re-acquire the spacecraft with backup receiver 332:01:03 DSN confirms lock on the spacecraft but the signal strength is weak (123), OC decides to switch antennas on the spacecraft, DSN now reports a signal strength of 102. 332:01:08 Re-start SSR playback 332:01:11 Execute CAP 502 to read FEP memory 332:01:12 Execute CAP 502 to read FEP memory again just to be sure 332:01:17 Start CAP 503 and SOP_61007 to load the standard and optional patches. 332:01:19 I note that we missed several verifiers while loading the standard patches. I checked with Cambridge Ops and OC/CC on the TLM integrity and the integrity of the squirt connection. All appeared well, so we restarted the procedure. 332:01:25 2nd attempt to load the patches. I observe the same pattern of missed command verifiers. We decide to press on and load all the patches. 332:01:35 Dump patches in FMT1, it takes 4 minutes to dump all. 332:01:43 Reboot, all is well. The patches did get into ACIS intact after all ! 332:01:45 execute SOP_61010 to re-start DEA HKP. 332:01:50 clear and disable all SCSs 332:02:15 LOS NOTES: 1) Chandra's state at AOS 332:00:38 was: UTC 1999:332:00:39:02 (Sun Nov 28) f_ACE 3.12e+01 F_ACE 4.63e+05 R km 92028A OBT 1999:332:00:38:37 CTUVCDU 4036991 OBC s/w NRML FMT2_SSR CPEstat NORM OBT 60136717.27 ONLVCDU 4036984 OBC Errs 0 OBSID 1472 EPState SUN SIM TTpos -99616 HETG Angle 81.0 PCADMODE NMAN RA 28.259 Bus V 30.40 SIM FApos -715 LETG Angle 79.8 PCONTROL NPNT Dec -48.233 Bus I 30.01 AOFSTAR GUID Roll 327.052 ACA Object SSSSSSSS Dither ENAB HRC-I HV ON ACA ImFunc NNNNNNNN Dith Yang 0.00 Yaw Rate -1.65 HRC-S HV OFF ACA CCD Temp -10.4 Dith Zang 0.00 Pitch Rate -102.96 OBSMode NEXT ACA Int Time 1.698 Roll Rate -3.61 Door OP UNAC AOACSTAT OK FSS SunBeta SUN Door CL UNAC FSS Alfa -0.91 Batt 1 SOC 100.00% Avg HRMA Temp 70.61 FSS Beta -14.05 Batt 2 SOC 100.00% ACIS Stat7-0 66 Avg OBA Temp 50.73 SA Resolv 103.35 Batt 3 SOC 100.00% Cold Rad -120.7 OBA Tavg Fault NFLT SA Sun Pres ILLM Warm Rad -82.0 OBA Trng Fault NFLT +Y SA Amps 14.10 HRMA power 58.30 -Y SA Amps 15.46 EPHIN Geom LARG OBA power 83.30 +Y SA Temp 115.85 E1300 2 -Y SA Temp 115.49 P4GM 0 Roll Mom. -1.287 P41GM 0 Pitch Mom. -11.675 UpL Cmd Acc 48835 A-Leak 0.2280 Yaw Mom. -1.621 Cmd Rej A 0 B-Leak 0.0360 2) Chandra's state at the end of the pass was: UTC 1999:332:02:15:01 (Sun Nov 28) f_ACE 3.85e+01 F_ACE 7.15e+05 R km 100319A OBT 1999:332:02:14:28 CTUVCDU 4059433 OBC s/w NRML FMT1_NORM CPEstat NORM OBT 60142468.58 ONLVCDU 4059432 OBC Errs 0 OBSID 1468 EPState SUN SIM TTpos -50505 HETG Angle 81.0 PCADMODE NPNT RA 54.322 Bus V 30.24 SIM FApos -715 LETG Angle 79.8 PCONTROL NPNT Dec 0.515 Bus I 29.00 AOFSTAR GUID Roll 337.331 ACA Object FFFSSSSS Dither ENAB HRC-I HV ON ACA ImFunc TTTTTTTN Dith Yang -9.76 Yaw Rate -0.31 HRC-S HV OFF ACA CCD Temp -10.4 Dith Zang 19.93 Pitch Rate -0.06 OBSMode OBSV ACA Int Time 1.698 Roll Rate -0.19 Door OP ACT AOACSTAT OK FSS SunBeta NSUN Door CL UNAC FSS Alfa -49.62 Batt 1 SOC 100.00% Avg HRMA Temp 70.58 FSS Beta -49.77 Batt 2 SOC 100.00% ACIS Stat7-0 67 Avg OBA Temp 50.81 SA Resolv 157.69 Batt 3 SOC 100.00% Cold Rad -120.7 OBA Tavg Fault NFLT SA Sun Pres ILLM Warm Rad -82.0 OBA Trng Fault NFLT +Y SA Amps 13.53 HRMA power 85.80 -Y SA Amps 13.72 EPHIN Geom LARG OBA power 35.10 +Y SA Temp 116.95 E1300 2 -Y SA Temp 116.58 P4GM 0 Roll Mom. -1.868 P41GM 0 Pitch Mom. -12.170 UpL Cmd Acc 55948 A-Leak 0.2320 Yaw Mom. -0.177 Cmd Rej A 111 B-Leak 0.0360 3) I should document for Peter, Jim, and Royce the dropped command verifiers and see if it makes sense with the packet sizes, frequency of reporting and the buffers allocated to command verifiers. PROBLEMS: 1) DSN dropout because we were not on the optimal antenna. 2) Confusion over command verifiers from ACIS in FMT 1. 3) SCS displays on the XWIN1 slave. I could not get either the "O_MISS_SCS_STATUS" or the "F_OPERATIONS_SCS" displays to read valid data. I saw that the OC/CC had a display called "F_SCS" open which was correctly registering the SCS status. Unfortunately, I cannot open this display from the SOT0AXAF account. Is this a problem specific to XWIN1 or has something changed with the displays I have been using throughout the mission ? ACIS: Paul Plucinsky
