Shift L49 Start at 252:10:00 GMT = 06:00am 09 Sep EDT End 02:00pm 09 Sep SOT Lead DAS Spac/Aspect RAC FOT/Sci liason HRC ACIS (Times will be given in GMT on day 252. In general times are rough, not precise.) PLAN Load the revised P12 and recover from bright star hold. Exit radiation belts and resume P12d observations at 252:12:40 HRC-S/LETG focus plate measurements on Capella until 253:07:15 OBSIDs 1167, 1244, 1169, 1246 Then intermediate position with OBSID 62388 until 07:33 Then HRC-I science target CEN A, until 253:19:50 OBSIDs 464 and 1253. EVENTS Start of shift LOS 10:26 AOS. Downlink established. OBSID is 62415. In Format 2 at intermediate position RA=63.75, dec =-15.5 deg. SIM at ACIS-I aim point and focus. Gratings out. 11:18 End SSR playback. CFC count=24 (<5 errors). reset pointers 12:10 End comm, turn transmitter off. 17:48 AOS, establish comm. We are successfully executing load P12d! Currently OBSID 1244, the second observation of P12d, is running, we have 5 stars and 3 fid lights, HRC-S is in proper configuration and taking data. 17:56 Start CAP 396, to collect raw frame data from ACIS 18:00 Difficulties with ground links from DSN delay start of CAP NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS 24-hr science ops summary for 9am meeting: ACIS-I Observing: OBSID 1111, PKS 0312-77 Pileup. Completed with anomalous lock on fid instead of star. 251:14:25 to 252:12:10 in bright star hold mode. P12 load halted. Radiation belt passage 252:02:07 to 252:13:02 Replan P12d to pickup at belt exit. HRC-S in standby with reduced HV. All instrument performance nominal. ANOMALY: ACIS event histograms observing the external radioactive source show terrible energy resolution, ~4 times expected FWHM. We got agreement to extend the ground contact from 17:45 to 00:30. We will take two separate 1-hr segments of Format 2 data, out of each of the OBSIDs 1244 and 1169. We define 4 new OBSIDs: 62413 For format 2, ACIS raw frame data 62412 return to format 1, finish what was OBSID 1244 while ACIS takes event histogram data. 62411 1 hr of ACIS format 2 data, configuration TBD 62410 return to format 1, finish what was OBSID 1169 while ACIS takes event histogram data. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
