SOT Shift Report Shift M357 Duration: 14 Jul 2000 15:00 EDT - 14 Jul 2000 19:00 EDT 14 Jul 2000 19:00 GMT - 14 Jul 2000 23:00 GMT SOT Lead: Tom Aldcroft Spacecraft/Aspect: FOT/Science Liason: HRC: Mike Juda ACIS: Paul Plucinsky ======================================== Plan ---- Evaluate spacecraft radiation environment and decide whether to continue with the daily load, which contains ACIS-S observations. Events ------ 19:30 AOS on DSS-66 ~21:15 Load terminated 21:30 Run CAP 636 to power down ACIS FEP Notes/Issues/Problems --------------------- - At the 4pm tagup, it was decided to terminate the daily load. EPHIN levels continue to rise coming out of radiation belts and show no indication that they will drop to levels below the RADMON trigger. ACE rates are still unacceptably high. Given the on-going solar storm activity, the consensus was that Sunday morning is the earliest possible opportunity to resume science observations. - The JUL1600 load will be re-built to pick up at 7:30am Sunday. Review for this load will be Saturday 11am, with uplink Saturday 9pm. The only substantial changes should be an initial maneuver and insertion of an initial ACIS stop science. As a backup, another load will be built to pick up late Sunday night, if radiation still looks bad for science on Sunday morning. - A tagup telecon will be held at 6:30pm Saturday to decide whether it is safe to resume with science operations Sunday morning. - The ACA is getting hammered by ionizing radiation, causing frequent losses of track and large star centroid and magnitude deviations. The initial star acquisition following maneuver to the perigee attitude had only two of five stars acquired - ACIS FP temperature started at -113 C, so continued squeegy mode testing needed to wait for cooldown. High radiation levels ended up preventing any ACIS testing (squeegy or CTI). - ACE 130-214 keV proton flux (p/cm2-s-sr-MeV) and fluence (p/cm2-sr-MeV): Average Flux: 43200 steady 2-hour Fluence: 3.1E09 (SOT alert at 3.6E+8) Orbital Fluence: 0 (SOT alert at 1.0E+9) EPHIN Geom LARG E150 54528 E300 31872 E1300 9280 1318.52 (RADMON P4GM 17152 3542.40 Triggers) P41GM 2056 100.00 Snapshot -------- UTC 2000:196:21:47:01 (Jul14) f_ACE 4.28e+04 F_ACE 0.00e+00 Kp 2.0 R km 61372A OBT 2000:196:21:46:36 CTUVCDU 16292206 OBC s/w NRML FMT2_EPS CPEstat OBT 79998396.88 ONLVCDU 16292192 OBC Errs 0 OBSID 61995 EPState SUN SIM TTpos -99616 HETG Angle 80.2 PCADMODE NPNT RA 325.442 Bus V 31.02 SIM FApos -467 LETG Angle 78.3 PCONTROL NPNT Dec 60.099 Bus I 29.00 AOFSTAR GUID Roll 151.298 ACA Object SSSSSSSS Dither ENAB HRC-I HV ON ACA ImFunc TTTTTNNN Dith Yang -4.77 Yaw Rate 0.19 HRC-S HV OFF ACA CCD Temp -10.4 Dith Zang -2.61 Pitch Rate 0.10 OBSMode NEXT ACA Int Time 1.698 Roll Rate 0.10 Door OP UNAC AOACSTAT OK FSS SunBeta SUN Door CL UNAC FSS Alfa -0.29 Batt 1 SOC 100.00% Avg HRMA Temp 70.58 FSS Beta -4.88 Batt 2 SOC 100.00% ACIS Stat7-0 66 Avg OBA Temp 50.97 SA Resolv 94.67 Batt 3 SOC 100.00% Cold Rad -127.9 OBA Tavg Fault NFLT SA Sun Pres ILLM Warm Rad -82.0 OBA Trng Fault NFLT +Y SA Amps 14.10 HRMA power 66.30 SCS 128 -Y SA Amps 15.26 EPHIN Geom LARG OBA power 136.30 SCS 129 +Y SA Temp 108.70 E150 54528 SCS 130 -Y SA Temp 108.17 E300 31872 Roll Mom. -0.322 E1300 9280 Pitch Mom. -5.958 UpL Cmd Acc 60145 EPH A-Leak 0.5840 P4GM 17152 Yaw Mom. 1.936 Cmd Rej A 79 EPH B-Leak 0.1000 P41GM 2056
