Shift L359. Start at 198:10:30 GMT = 06:30 am 16 Jul EDT End 09:00 am 16 Jul SOT Lead DAS ACIS PPP (Times will be given in GMT on day 198. In general times are rough, not precise.) PLAN Assess radiation levels to see if we can activate the load JUL1600d to restart Chandra observing. Next Comms 198:11:00 to 12:45 198:20:45 to 22:45 199:03:55 to 06:45 HETG insertion via daily load 199:14:35 to 15:35 Last comm before JUL1700 starts observations 199:23:40 to 00:40 200:09:20 to 11:20 EVENTS 11:02 AOS EPHIN RATES: EPHIN Geom = LARG E1300 = 235 LT 1318.52 (RADMON P4GM = 6752 LT 3542.40 Triggers) P41GM = 88 LT 100.00 Status at AOS, 198:11:02, was as follows: PCAD MODE = NPNT CONTROL LAW FLAG = NPNT Stars: = 5 FIDS = 0 RA = 325.439 deg DEC = 60.100 deg ROLL = 151.301 deg Format = 2 OBSID = 61995 Position where load was stopped on 196:21 GMT SIM FA = -467 SIM TSC = -99615 (HRC-S) HETG = OUT (80.2 deg) LETG = OUT (78.3 deg) HRC-S HV is ON EPHIN: A-Leak = 0.6280 mu-a B-Leak = 0.1120 mu-a 11:30 Run SOP to warm boot ACIS BEP, and restart housekeeping. This is in case ACIS had taken SEU hits in the enhanced radiation. 12:44 LOS: Status essentially unchanged. NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS Our criteria for restarting loads were to have the EPHIN rates a factor of ~3 below RADMON trigger levels, namely E1300 < 400 P4GM <1200 P41GM < 35 These were not met, and the loads were not restarted. SCS slots 128, 129, and 130 were cleared. Stars are being tracked, and images look good. Plan: Load review at 10am EDT today, for restart plan B, aka JUL1700 load. Tagup telecon at 9pm EDT tonight to discuss radiation background Midnight EDT today will be grating insertion via SCS load 9:30 am EDT Monday, telecon to assess radiation, final decision on letting the JUL1700 load proceed with science observations. ACE proton fluxes are around 20,000 particles/cm2-s-ster-MeV, 130-214 keV. Two full orbits at that rate, with HETG in place, gives about 1.7e+9 fluence. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
