ACIS Shift report L360 Jul 17 1100, GMT 199:15:00 PLAN: Observe ongoing ACIS CTI measurement and EPHIN rates. Decide if the stored load should be allowed to continue and put ACIS into the focal position. SUMMARY: OBSID 61992 is in progress. The I array CCDs look OK, the event rates are normal. Delta overclock levels are large, 40-50, not surprising since the electronics have been off for a long time. EPHIN rates are quite low. Given the indications from ACE and GOES, it was decided to allow the load to proceed and put ACIS into the focal position. NEXT PLAN: - MIT to combine realtime and dump to compute CTI, quick-look results from Bev using the corner pixels for bias rule out a large increase in CTI on S3 and S2. Yippee ! Note, the bias may have been acquired at an elevated temperature, so please check the temperature throughout the run before using the bias. We extended the current pass to include the end of the CTI measurement. The dump should be available 3-4 hr from now. - Dan is concerned that the unusual radiation environment might cause us to hit a cloud of low-energy protons somewhere else on the orbit. The HETG is in, so we have a little more protection. Dan suggested that we might be able to use the threshold crossings, amplitude rejects, and grade rejects to determine if ACIS was being hit by low-energy protons which EPHIN is essentially insensitive to.
