In general times are rough, not precise.) PLAN Continue running load MAY0300b. Perform ACIS CTI measurements surrounding the perigee passage at 2000:125:06:50:44. Then resume ACIS-I observation of three distant clusters of galaxies around CL 0848.6+4453, with OBSID 927. NOTE: proprietary rights were waived for this observation! However, the next two passes "caught up" so we have no backlog in the SSR. Loads on board are good through the end of MAY0300b, at day 129:21:44. Revised products for MAY0700b load are out. Review planned for 1pm today (special time due to Flight Director board meeting at 2pm). OFLS telecon at 3pm today. ACIS ops meeting at 9:30am. CAP being prepared to dump the thermal K-constants for routine checking. XTE J1550-564 flux is 0.56 Crab, from 5 RXTE ASM measurements over the last day. Notes from 9:30am ACIS ops meeting: Squeegy-III tests verified the existence of the bias decay phenomenon. It has not yet been reproduced exactly in the lab, and the physical causes are not yet understood. Further analysis of this data, and perhaps further lab tests, will be necessary before we can plan Squeegy-IV test. So it is possible we will not be ready for the week of May 15, but at this time we want to keep our request for DSN contact and real-time operations, in case we do decide on what is needed. Lincoln Labs has reported CTI degradation of a few E-5 at radiation dose of 50 Krad per pixel. MIT has seen no degradation at 25 Krad per pixel. We are tentatively considering 25 Krad as the number which might be submitted as a formal CARD requirement for a ten year dose. If we budget against that number for mission planning, we would want to limit any exposure to 1 Krad per pixel in a six month period. The budget could be controlled to allow observations giving more dosage, IF tighter restrictions then obtain for an appropriately longer time period. FOT/MP joined the team to discuss details of requirements for carrying out NIL observations. The purpose will be for FOT/MP to specify new requirements on the OFLS to properly plan such observations, including new variables for the characteristics and constraints files as necessary. ------------------------------------------------------- Dan Schwartz, MS #3 das@head-cfa.harvard.edu phone: (617)495-7232 FAX: (617)495-7356 cell phone: (617)512-5627 pager: 800-759-8352 PIN 1636502 or e-mail 1636502@skytel.com -------------------------------------------------------
