HETG and LETG were inserted fully and retracted using MCE-B, under both hardware and software (SCS) commanding. We decided that we are safe to proceed with grating operations using MCE-B, as currently configured in the loads. Jeff Shirer will be writing the anomaly report which will expand upon the failure, diagnostic and operational testing and the recovery. During a de-brief after the tests the following issues were raised: 1) There was no "back emf" voltage seen on the A side 28V telemetry when using the LETG. Kodak took an action to explain this. Initial indications are that it is related to the MCE relay configuration. 2) The issue of detection of a failed limit switch was discussed. A suggestion was made to have flight software check the status after each move and report an error if the status is incorrect. 3) There seemed to be little hystersis on the insertion limit switches. This will be re-evaluated when the test data is processed. 4) We discussed the need to prepare for an additional failure of the grating limit switches. This will be a longer term activity aiming for "limit switch less" operation if additional switches should fail. Requirements and ideas should be input to the FOT (Jeff).
