ACIS Shift report M283 May 1 2000, GMT 122:20:30:00, EDT May 1, 2000 16:30 PLAN: Execute CAP 596 to run the 16row Squeegy in raw mode. SUMMARY: We performed 2 science runs today. The intent was to run the 16row Squeegy in raw mode, instead of the usual event-finding mode, in order to telemeter all the pixels. These data will hopefully be useful in understanding better how the Squeegy clocking works on the flight instrument. A 2D window block was used so that only half the S0 CCD, quadrants A and B, were telemetered. While examining the raw frames, it was noticed that some of the data did not look as expected. It was suggested that the raw frames were not being properly processed by the ground SW. Specifically, the decompression algorithm most likely had become confused since we computed and telemetered a bias at the beginning of this run and both the bias data and raw frame data need a decompression table. Therefore, we decided to stop the test run early and run a normal clocking run on S0 to confirm that the CCD was indeed OK. We used steps 54-60 of CAP 595 for this non-Squeegy run. A quick examination of the data showed that the CCD was fine. Many thanks to the OC/CC for getting us COM early and maximizing the data collection time. And thanks for the quick work on the contingency non-Squeegy run. The COM was rock-solid on Madrid. 1) Detailed Timeline: GMT 122:20:25 AOS on DSS 54 (Madrid) 122:20:25 FP Temp = -119.5 C 122:20:30 FP Temp = -119.7 C 122:20:40 P4=0.0, E150=31.5, E300=0.0 122:20:43 OBSID change to 62889 FP Temp = -119.9 C 122:20:50 load 16 row Squeegy clocking commands 122:20:54 start raw mode Squeegy run 122:20:56 P4=0.4, E150=40.9, E300=0.7 122:21:05 bias data starts 122:21:08 raw frames start 122:21:11 P4=0.0, E150=32.6, E300=0.0 122:21:45 decide that the raw frames look a little strange 122:22:16 stopScience 122:22:17 lose command capability to the spacecraft 122:22:20 OC requests that DSS 54 switch CPAs 122:22:36 regain command capability to the spacecraft 122:22:38 dump PRAM 122:22:40 dump SRAM 122:22:40 switch OBSID to 62888 122:22:42 pick up with CAP 595 at step 54 122:22:42 load non-Squeegy PB, WT0032C014 note * this PB will use the already loaded 2D window block which only accepts data from quadrant A and B 122:22:43 startScience 122:22:54 bias data start 122:22:56 event data start 122:23:00 rate looks nominal 122:23:18 stopScience, 399 frames, ~1300s 122:23:20 stored load updates OBSID to 633 122:23:24 startScience for OBSID 633 122:23:30 LOS 2) Radiation environment EPHIN rates reported above.
