NOTES/ISSUES/PROBLEMS From the 9am status meeting: 2 supports, 3 dumps, 1 load segment uplinked. On-board load good through 283:03:41 A new attitude was chosen for perigee passage, to perform the ACA test, so new products for OCT0900b out later this morning (and they were out at 09:59) for a load review at 1pm today. The LETG bumper test executed flawlessly according to the CAP. However, the results present two puzzles. As reported in the SOT shift report 2000-10-04 L440, we did not hit the bumper upon the initial retract, so we do not know that it is in place. This is relevant to the planned revision of safe mode software, where we would like to fully retract the LETG no matter where it is, but in which case we would count on hitting the bumper if LETG in fact was not fully inserted. The numbers of steps in the insert and in the retract directions were not equal to get to the same state. Both of these situations are being investigated by CXC with TRW/EKC support. Recovery of GRETA problem. Restoration from a June 27 20GB backup tape did not work. Will make further attempts, pending a meeting at 11am today. The original failed disk has been sent via fedex to the Ontrack Data Recovery service, their assessment at the possibility of recovery will be available tomorrow. Coot disk was full. Backed up /proj/telmon/tlm/raw/20001??/ and /2000001 through /2000047 directories as a tar file. Then the tape filled up -- that is, terminated with an I/O error. Attempt to read on unagi gave unagi-24: tar t -d /dev/tape tar: tape read error. Mark F. will continue working this on next shift.
