Low-level M-flares are possible in Regions 9866 and 9871. SpaceWeather.com: Twisted magnetic fields near sunspot 9866 erupted on March 14. The explosion sparked an M5-class solar flare at 0150 UT and hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. The CME was not squarely Earth-directed, but it might deliver a sideways blow to Earth's magnetosphere on March 15th or 16th. That CME joins another already en route.
