Observing 'MZ 3' with ACIS-S (obsid 2546). Soft proton levels are low (under 200) Solar activity is predicted to be low to moderate over the next two days with a possible M or X class flare from active region 162. Eric Martin reports that the ACA "flyby" limb test last night was nominal: "The ACA "flyby" test to track stars to 10 deg from the bright Earth limb and the 10 deg star acquisition test were both successfully executed in Normal Pointing mode by the spacecraft." Playback had to be repeated on next support. - In next support, DSS-54 at 296:0230-0615 (long duration to watch earth limb test) it was again noticed that the CDR was not recording VC0 and VC1 data. Problem was isolated and resolved at the site. Also, 8 mins into support we lost telemetry. Had to go to second backup TGC to regain contact. - Since support was long we eventually got all dump data down and dumps are current. - 1 LS uplinked, good thru 299:1750 Mission Planning (Ken): - NOV04 schedule in work S/C Engineering(Dan/Eric/Rino): - Earth constraint test went well. There were two phases: * Acquire at 20 deg from limb, drift to 10 deg and back out to 20,in normal point * Acquire stars at 10 deg from limb and transition to normal point * First phase star field had very dim stars. Warm pixels in ACA caused loss of stars (down to 2 at one point) but ACA behavior was independent of angle to the limb. This is a worst case test which demonstrated that a 10 degree constraint would be adequate. * Second phase test had good star field and acquisition of 8 stars was nominal * Will therefore recommend relaxing ACA CARD earth limb limit to 10 deg (from 20) - Dan and Eric will be briefing TRW West Friday on FOT activities and operations - Rino has determined that the large ACIS PSMC temperature rises observed occasionally are associated with a combination of 50-55 degree pitch plus negative roll. We can avoid this in MP if we need to. SOT(Bill): - See above notes on radiation DSOPS(Joy): - Two quick looks (see below) GOT/IST(Mike) - All OK - GOT training tomorrow 8:30am till noon. Meetings/events: - 10am, star working group. - Visit from SIRTF/IRAC team to go over SI ops. Will be at OCC this morning and go to 60 Garden after lunch. 3) Quick look data: Seq # ObsID It Target start time SI Grat Comment ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OCT2102C: 800200 P2 03200 00 0 OPHIUCHUS CLUSTER 2002:294:11:24:11.041 51.2 ACIS-S NONE 700456 03017 00 0 LBQS0018-0220 2002:295:02:16:40.594 5.1 ACIS-S NONE
