SOT shift report 2002-09-26 L1162 Start at 2002:269:12:39 UTC = 2002 Sep 26 08:39 am EDT End 11:00 am EDT SOT Lead Ed Kellogg PLAN ---- In the radiation zone. RADIATION SUMMARY ----------------- Solar soft proton flux is low. There was no significant solar activity, nor were any CMEs reported for the past two days. Radiation Measurement Observed Limit --------------------- -------- ----- ACE 2 hr fluence 3.7e5 3.6e8 GOES-8/P2 4-9 MeV protons `P4GM' 0.09 95. REAL TIME OBSERVATIONS UTC OBSID ----------------------------------------------------------------- - Notes from 9 am meeting ------------------------ OPS: Passes 4 over the last 1 day(s) Dumps current Data loss - Load is good -> 272:16:47 UTC CAPs - Next passes 1830, 2255, 0205, 0850 Notes: During one of the passes, an automation test, we checked bit slippage. It is the same as in the manual configuration. The 6 bit shift is still there. MP: SEP3002B load products are out. sitdown review at 3:30 pm. S/C: Dan Shropshire reported EPHIN at yellow limit last night, 87.3 F. They will keep monitoring and comparing with predictions. A temperature limit on HRC at the PSMC on the leg attached to the translation table was flagged again. This is being investigated. There is a known Chandra characteristic, that at pitch angles between 48-55 degrees, the sun shines in through a gap in the thermal skirt, heating the ACIS boxes. We need to understand if the heating rate is increasing. GOT/IST: The EHS will be down today from 9:30- 1:30 pm. The A firewall will be down tomorrow. DATA: The last observation will need rapid processing. SOT: Very minor activity on the Sun for the past two days. Low probability of CME to impact earth within 96 hours. Moderate probability of M and X class flares within the next 48 hours. MEETINGS -------- FDB 2:00 ACIS ops at 1 Hampshire 6 fl. 2:00.
